It is the most commonly used cartilage along with the nasal septum cartilage in nose surgeries.
Sometimes, it is not big enough to elevate the nose tip to a certain range. So, it is good to use it with nasal septum cartilages.

Differences between autologous cartilages/ donated costal cartilage/ artificial prosthesis
-

Autologous
cartilagesnasal septum, ear cartilage,
costal cartilages,
autologous dermis -
To make it simpler, it would mean that the materials used for the surgery are your own cartilages or dermis!
Therefore, these materials will have the least inflammation and foreign body reactions!
Nasal septum and ear cartilages are the most common materials used, and if you do not have any of this left due to frequent surgeries (more than three times), costal cartilages are used. The dermofat is used to elevate the nose tip. Using silicones will give a better shape. However, it is a great alternative if silicones cannot be used due to multiple reoperations.
-

Homologous
cartilageDonated costal cartilage
-
Donated costal cartilages are cartilages of other people that have been processed to reduce inflammation and foreign body reactions. They are great alternatives to use when you do not want to use your costal cartilage OR when your nasal septum is not big enough.
-

Artificial
prosthesisSilicone, Mesh
-
Silicones implants are materials that have been acknowledged in the plastic surgery field for a long time. You do not have to worry about using these. Some cases of silicone projections are caused due to impractical nose surgeries. They have the same safety as surgeries without using prostheses if surgeons use them safely.
Although the mesh is low, the possibility of protrusion and inflammation exists, so it is not used in our clinic.
Even if the probability is 1/1000, if it happens to you, there is a 100% chance, so I will not take a risky adventure.

SURGERY INFORMATION
Information of each material
-
MATERIAL #1
-
Ear cartilage
-
MATERIAL #2
-
Nasal septum cartilage
It is the most commonly used material in nose surgeries. Asians do not have a big size often. So, it is used along with donated costal cartilages.
-
MATERIAL #3
-
Costal cartilage
Autologous cost cartilage is the strongest and most abundant cartilage and is suitable for those who want dramatic changes.
-
MATERIAL #4
-
Donated costal cartilage
Sometimes, nasal septum cartilages are not big enough to elevate the nose to a certain height.
In these cases, donated costal cartilages are used to elevate the nose tip.
Mighty does not use the donated costal cartilage alone. Rather, it is used to supplement the nasal septum cartilage.
-
MATERIAL #5
-
Silicone
It is a prosthesis used for the longest time. Therefore, the safety has been verified. It is safe to use unless you try to elevate the nose excessively.
-
MATERIAL #6
-
Mesh
It is an artificial material used as an alternative to nasal septum cartilage. However, Mighty does not use it.
SURGERY INFORMATION
Which material would be appropriate for the nose surgery?
-
-
CASE 01. nasal dorsum
-
Silicone is the best choice.
It creates the best shape, and its safety has been proven for a long time. -
If your skin is thin and weak due to multiple surgeries, we recommend you to use your own dermofat.
-
-
-
CASE 02. Nose tip
-
For low nose tips
Nasal septum cartilages are the best materials to use. However, if the nasal septum cartilage is too small, it is better to put costal cartilage over it to create a more beautiful nose shape.
-
For not-so-low, not-so-high nose tips
For those who have a developed alar cartilages, ear cartilage would be enough to make a prominent nose tip.
-
For those who have nasal septum deviation
It is best to use costal cartilage . By using costal cartilage, it could cure nasal septum deviation.
-
For those who are having their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th surgery
No choice but to use all remaining ear and nasal septum cartilages. If it lacks, autologous costal cartilages can be used.
